2000-2006, 2001 being my favorite(personal best finish) other than that any year that a local guy won like gary drew, scott robbins etc. ..
the year alan wilson was cranking and drove off the track towards the end was the worst to see that happen to a good clean driver!

I think you are thinking of '03 with Rowe, Steve Knowlton, and Drew finishing 3-wide.

My recollection was that just as Rowe jumped on the gas the green came out. Looked pretty much simultaneous to me. A perfect start actually. Kind of like when defensive lineman in football start to go too early...but then the ball is snapped just as it looks like a penalty and it is really just perfect timing.
Most memorable races for me with regards to excitement on the track: 1982, 1984, 1985, 1988, 1992, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009.
I've said it before...the type of car has nothing to do with my enjoyment of the event. I've liked all of the types of cars. The single most coolest car that stood out to me as "awesome" was Junior Hanley's #72 1982 Camaro. I had never before seen a car as radical as that...and Mike Rowe's fairly standard looking car was hanging right with him. Jeff Stevens #44 Camaro was of the same mold (sort of) and was also a standout.

Everyne has their own emmory of that race. I am not a OPS hater or conspiracy theorist but I thought they through the green as a reaction to Benji's jump. They took off atleast 100 early than they had all race. Also thought ben was figuring that he would take a chance at the jump and if they called him on it there was nothing lost. I just think they didn't want to throw the yellow and redo the start.
The best thing that could have happened to the 250 that day was to have Knowlton win. He is from the Mass area, was using a borrowed car, Had a bad CARB(HAHAHA boackfire out of the corner). It was a great story and I think would have brought up more cars from Southern New England.

I don't think him winning would have brought in a bunch more Southern New England cars. He and Mike Weeden had already won a several opens at Oxford during the late 80's. Steve was probably more identified with northern New England touring Pro Stocks than the weekly guys in southern New England. By this point, there was too big a gap between the Oxford/PASS cars and the cars that ran weekly outside of Maine. This was not so much the case in the 80s and the first few years that the 250 switched from NASCAR to Pro Stocks.
