The Limestone Snow hawks Snowmobile Club held their 1st vintage sled race on January 16th. The event was a success and well over 20 sleds from down state came to compete at what many of them said was "the best track they've competed at." The kidney shaped oval proved to be challenging and fun for the competitors. What the Limestone Snow hawks were missing was local sleds to compete. After speaking to many people club president Phil St. Peter decided to change the rules for the next 2 upcoming events on Feb 13th & March 6th. The new rules change, the sled years and classes to simplify things and makes it that a lot more local people can bring out their old sled and have a great day of fun. The new rule change consists of allowing any year sled to compete as long as it has leaf spring suspension. There will be a stock single cylinder class, a twin cylinder class, and a modified division. There will also be a kid’s class for children up to the age of 12. They can race a sled with up to 120cc and last but not least there will be a powder puff women’s division in the stock single and twin divisions. The upcoming races are not state points events like the last race and the club is very hopeful that local people will get out to race and watch these races. The Limestone Snow hawks also invite all snowmobile clubs to attend the event. Anyone who belongs to a snowmobile club and attends will receive a free chicken stew and ploy meal for coming. Just bring your membership card to the race with you. Admission to these events is only $8.00 for adults and kids 10 and under are only $4.00. Be sure to mark this one on your calendar and bring out that old sled or just come to watch either way you'll be supporting a great cause and you will have a great time.
